1. I wanted to let everyone know about this blog thing that I've been compelled to start (jk - I think it's cool). It's a good way to have you all keep up on the ongoing unfolding drama that some may argue is just as entertaining as Desperate Housewives, minus well... all the stuff you watch it for! I wanted to be able to have you all send me comments on what I write, ideas I post, suggest things that I most likely won't listen to :)
2. I wanted to share some good news with all of you!
All that to say - I GOT A JOB!!!!
This is completely a God thing! I had been interviewing with the Russ Reid Company for about a month for the position of Legislative Assistant. The people I met with (Michelle, Melanie and Steve) were awesome. I have wanted to work for this organization for over a year but there weren't any positions open.
So, I then met with the top guy on Thursday for a lunch interview with Michelle in attendance as well. It's so boss to be with people who "truly" believe in what they are working toward and care about those whom they work with.
The interview went great - I got to talk about China and mission work and Russia and mission work and youth work - Yeah, I talked a lot! Mark has a passion for Russia and Michelle and I lived in Akron Ohio and both frequented Belden Village Mall - :)\
I left the interview and prayed on my drive home. Through the circumstances that I've been put in has really allowed me to either RELY on Christ or to keep trying to do things my own way (which we all know hasn't had a good track record!). It's been such an amazing journey to draw closer to Him and not focus on the insanity that was going on in my life in many areas. He placed people in my life that I have been so blessed to get to know - there are too many to name, but please know that I am thankful for you all!
An hour after the interview Mark called me to let me know that the girl who does Russ Reid Company's new business was offered a spot to work with the DC Program to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and that she had just given her 2 week notice. They needed a replacement to start ASAP to train during her last 2 weeks.
Mark was aware of my past work where I worked with some new business clients at my previous lobbying firm. Mark also used to be a Vice President at that firm.
I was hired and I started on Friday. What a joy it was to receive this blessing. I can't say enough about the people that I work with. We have a diverse group of people, political backgrounds - but I can tell it's like a family. And since we all know that I've pretty much been booted from a majority of mine.... the family feeling is cool.
Please post something back to me with what you think etc. - just hit the "comments" link at the bottom and type away!
I don't have my own direct line yet, but I WILL be getting a BLACKBERRY!!! I'm such a sucker for technology! and.... for the first time in my (almost 30 yrs..... June 19th - Feel free to forward cards and gifts :) I get my own office! I've been gearing up for how I'm going to decorate it! I'm taking some of my own black/white photography to hang up and of course my 24x36 picture of Richard M. Nixon that my dad got me to hang over my desk.
Thank you ALL for your prayers, support, friendship, and most importantly for believing in me:)
Peace Out -

I really have no comments to make since I already talked to you, so congrats again. I really am happy for you. We're not too far from each other, so once you get settled let's meet somewhere in the middle for lunch. Or maybe I'll run into you at one of the myriad Starbucks in the area. :)
